About KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Boeing 747-400

KLM is flag carrier of Netherlands located in Europe. They have 15 747-400 series now.
They decided priority ordering for Combi type what is passenger and freighter mixing. The first time order was April 9, 1986 KLM ordered 4 747-400 (include 747-400×2 and 747-400M×2). The first aircraft (PH-BFA) delivered on May 18, 1989 and PH-BFA flew at KLM for 27 years until October 16, 2016. All of aircrafts are using GE engines (CF6-80C2B1F).
Normally KLM assign flights to North American and Caribbean, African, Asian for passenger flights. North American routes are most important rotes for KLM 747-400s. In 2016 they have two daily flight to Los Angeles by 747-400. And They had many routes for Asia until 2016 but they are going to replace by 777-300ER and 787-9. In 2018 KLM has two destinations for Asia (Hong Kong, Seoul).
KLM is planning to all of passenger type 747-400s retirement on June 2021.
Also, KLM has 4 747-400 freighters now. They are operated by Martin Air flight to Miami and Nairobi. Freighter aircrafts don’t have any schedule of retirement because they are using 747-400ERF this type is newer than passenger.
KLM 747-400 History
April 9, 1986 KLM ordered 4 747-400 and it was first time 747-400 orders for KLM. KLM is fifth operator for 747-400. Their final order was in June 14, 2002 ordered for 1 747-400ERF. KLM introduced total 26 747-400 until February 2004.

PH-BFB is the oldest active 747-400 at the moment. PH-BFY is newest passenger 747-400 in KLM and it was maintenance at CGK on end of 2017 and operation more 4 years also will be final 747-400 for KLM.

Current aircraft
There is 4 747-400 and 8 747-400M, 4 747-400ERF in April 2018. All of aircrafts are named for world city names. And some of aircraft going to paint for new livery. There are already painted for new livery (PH-BFN, PH-BFT, PH-BFV, PH-BFW, PH-BFY). KLM had different livery for Taiwanese routes due to political it called KLM Asia livery, but it was finished on end of 2017 because from last KLM Asia aircraft was repainted to new livery at her final D-Check at CGK.
